ZOOM GFX-8

  • V.A.M.S.
There isn't a sound in the universe that can't be reproduced if you have a GFX-8 equipped with the V.A.M.S. system. Even the electronic circuitry and sonic characteristics of a wide variety of guitar amps and the specific feel and presence of the guitarist can be digitally simulated. By refining Zoom's legendary modeling technology with high-grade analog circuitry, V.A.M.S. provides a degree of freedom and flexibility that has been unimaginable until now. V.A.M.S. easily emulates everything from the screaming distortion of a high-powered stack to the warm, fat distortion of a classic vintage amp. To ensure the accurate reproduction of a variety of musical situations, the amp simulator comes with front-panel guitar, rear power and line input settings. More than just a hybrid electronic circuit, the V.A.M.S. variably fuses analog and digital technologies to achieve "cyberdistortion with a human heart."

  • CUSTOM DISTORTION
Even a crack team of development engineers or an army of voicing consultants can't exhaust the potential of the V.A.M.S. The only way to do it is by freeing up all of the parameters to the user. Whether in edit mode, using a Windows or Mac GUI environment, you get custom distortion with "cut-and-paste" editing freedom to tap the unlimited potential of the system as if you were developing the product itself. The user is now in control of the evolution of distortion.
  • 69TYPE EFFECTS
Exceptional performance for price is no longer an adequate description of our high-density DSP technology. Each and every one of the GFX-8's 69 effects were individually developed to achieve a level of quality that goes way beyond specialized single effect devices. In addition to basic ambient, delay and modulation effects, "Acoustic Effect" lets you produce an acoustic guitar sound from an electric guitar without switching the instrument during live performances. And a wide range of other newly-developed special effects like (SFX) Sample & Hold, Gate Reverb, and Synth. All of the effects are capable of responding 120% to the demands of guitarists who have refined their individual sound and who want to distinguish their sound from others.

A patch memory capability of 240 settings (80 user, 160 preset) comprise virtually all the sounds produced by the guitarists around the world. In addition, a sampling function with a maximum of 25 seconds lets you instantly copy any phrase. The Jam Play function allows you to easily play backing rhythms and chords and solo simultaneously.

All the guitar sounds on board were custom-created for the GFX-8.

  • METAL BODY
The Zoom GFX-8 is housed in a rugged, solid metal chassis that can easily withstand the full range and force of the guitarist's artistic emotions. Its classy color scheme under-scores a harmonious integration between studio and stage environments. After putting in all the sound and functionality a guitarist could ever want, the incorporation of a metal body was the logical step for achieving the final element of perfection. In our quest to give the GFX-8 the strength and durability any guitarist can trust in even the most rigorous performance situations, we probably got carried away by making all of the switches, pedals and knobs more durable than necessary. The often-used connector portion of the back panel also features metal jacks.
Built to withstand the rigors of world touring, we have also given the GFX-8 a classic texture and feel that becomes more familiar to the user over time, like a favorite pair of old jeans.
  • INTERFACE
Your perspective is what constantly drove our development of the GFX-8. That's why we were able to design a truly user-friendly interface for a guitar effects processor that never performs as a musical instrument and brings out the individual style of the performer. The concept is simple. Ten knobs stand out in bold alignment. Turn any one of them and the sound changes. Each knob clearly says what it does, and does what it says. The GFX-8's unique front panel makes a clean break from conventional effects systems. With the operational feel of an analog effect and preamp, the sound moves as you'd expect it to. And the large, highly visible display reacts instantly to changes to tell you exactly where you are at any given moment. The GFX-8's numerous controllers give are presented in a familiar interface that bears a close resemblance to the control panel of a guitar amplifier. In short, effects that are a joy to play.

FUNCTION
  • PATCH MEMORY: 80 user and 160 preset Patch Memories for a total of 240 patches that can be called up in an instant. The 160 presets cover an incredible variety of guitar sounds.
  • 4ch EQUALIZER: Four individual knobs let you make incremental sound adjustments very easily, like on a guitar amp.
  • FOOT PEDAL: You can assign a variety of functions to the super tough and durable metal foot pedal which features a secret assign switch that can be activated by pressing the pedal harder.
  • IN/OUT: Stereo out, of course, with an independent volume control knob.
  • AUX IN: Can be used for a sampler line in and MIX IN to accommodate external sound sources. Send/Return jacks allows external effects to be inserted into the signal chain.
  • SEAMLESS DELAY: Lets you activate a new patch while the previous patch still delayed, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • MIDI: The GFX-8's vastly enhanced MIDI functionality serves as a control center for a variety of MIDI devices and as a MIDI system performer. No high-tech stage performance can do without the GFX-8.
